read online books The Bible as History By Werner Keller –

I had a small paperback of this book which is wonderful but it s been remodelled in this larger format, and all the original illustrations are sadly missing, including maps The layout isn t good and it should have been proof read properly, as there are lots of mistakes The photo part of the book is in black and white and you can t really make out the pictures Bad choice The Holy Land looks good in colour and details are lost in this version I was disappointed, as this has not been done well at all and obviously not by a professional publisher, which is sad. The Bible As History, now thoroughly updated with the latest scientific and archaeological breakthroughs in biblical investigation Including Revolutionary new evidence that confirms some of the most monumental and controversial events in the Bible including the destruction of Sodom and Gomorra Recently deciphered texts from the ancient world that offer an intriguing look back at the origin of the Ten Commandments An entirely new chapter revealing the extraordinary techniques that may soon prove the authenticity of the Shroud of Turin The Bible As History will take you on a breathtaking journey to the heart of Holy Scripture as it pieces together one of the most stunning spiritual puzzles in the history of mankind Enjoyed this book a lot I m not a part of any religion but after reading this you do approach the bible and quran in a different way I bought it really after looking for a book that would chronicle the entire history of the old testament period and ended up with much Really interesting for religious and non religious alike Good book. Wonderfully informative with lots of unheard of facts, would recommend it to anyone with an interest in history and archaeology in particular. I read the original version years ago.I haven t had time to read this one yet but I expect it to be even informative. OK, I m not a believer in the bible as the word of god it is a compilation of verbally handed down stories from a stone age tribe What I do believe is that most of the bible has a strong basis on real eventsand this book will leave you in little doubt about that Stories that are passed on verbally tend to get embellished over the yearssome of the bible stories are thousand of years old so chances are 40 became 400 which became 4000 etc However, this book explains how much of the Middle Eastern landscape has changed since the time of the bible and how recent discoveries have revealed the evidence. Exactly the type of book I was looking for Informative and unbiased. Just as I wanted and owned originally 50 years ago It provides an archaeological basis to theological understandind and provides an histographical perspective to current episimological knowledge. Wasn t the exact book hubby wanted but the next printing A reference book that reads like a novel Well done, scholarly and thoroughly documented.
