You drive for show, you putt for doughThis old adage is especially resonant with Dr Bob Rotella, the best selling author of Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect, and one of the foremost golf authorities today In Putting Out of Your Mind, Rotella offers entertaining putting He reveals the unique mental approach that great putting requires and helps golfers of all levels master this essential skill Much like Golf Is Not a Game of Perfect and Golf Is a Game of Confidence, Putting Out of Your Mind is an informative and valuable guide to achieving a better golf game While most spend their time trying to perfect their swing so they can drive the ball farther, Rotella encourages golfers to concentrate on their putting the most crucial yet often overlooked aspect of the game Great players are not only aware of the importance of putting, they go out of their way to master it, and mastery can only begin with understanding the attitude needed to be a better putter Rotella s mental rules have helped some of the greatest golfers in the world to become champion putters Now they re available to golfers everywhere From true life stories of such greats as Davis Love III, David Duvall, and Brad Faxon, to dozens of game changing practice drills, Putting Out of Your Mind is the new bible of putting for amateurs and pros alike The best book about golf I have ever read Read it over 18 months ago and it really improved my game, especially my putting Recently started putting poorly for about a month and realised I was over complicating things, so I re read this and started to do the simple things again I m not exaggerating when I say that overnight my putting improved again I ve read a few Bob Rotella books, all are very good, this one is the best by far and so easy to apply the methods Trust in Uncle Bob and your putting will be a revelation F A O Lynne The A Book arrived successfully yesterday , and although I have just read the Book in Print , this is a Very Good Highlights Form Thank You , also for your accompanying Note Every Little Helps Regards , Mark Carey. I bought this book on the recommendation of my club pro and was not disappointed I play off scratch and have always felt my putting was a part of the game that was just not good enough I am a firm believer in getting the mechanics right and this book does not go into this element of the game The prose purely focuses on your mental attitude which is a big part of putting I have bought the putting to win DVD from Bob Rotella and this book is a good supplement The biggest thing to take out of the book is that putting should be fun and not so you must make this at your standard it takes the pressure out of the whole scenario My one criticism is that it is difficult to put the thesis into practice and that is where the DVD is better Unless you have Bob Rotella stood over you it means you are constantly racking your brains to remember things he is recommending to try execute Great read though, especially if you are struggling with your putting and putting pressure on yourself to make putts I ve always struggled with getting to a green in regulation and then 3 putting time after time It s such a waste and one of the worst feelings when playing.I can t say this has cured me of this fate, but after reading this short book with it s simple messages, my mind allowed me to sink five 6 foot putts and three 3 footers that would have left me too stressed to make.We ll see how we go from here But I m off to practice putting now because I m enjoying putting and looking forward to it That s certainly a new experience and one I hope to hold onto. Superb book, a must read for anyone remotely interested in becoming a better putter Well written with lots of interesting techniques and references to how it s worked for players over the years. If you don t feel comfortable putting get this book Read the first four chapters of this book then played a round the next day Ended up shooting 76 gross which is my best to date All parts of my game seemed to be on point, but my putting was especially good Rolled in some crucial putts Needless to say I m looking forward to the rest of the book This book provided clarity about improving my approach to putting Most of the examples can be equally applied to other processes The book is an easy read and has examples and logical explanations A good reference book for the future as well. I have other books by Bob Rotella and they generally follow a pattern That s not to say the books are no good as the central message is spot on.Most golfers should know by now there is no magic answer to our woes, no piece of kit that will guarantee shooting low single figures every time we turn up at the club if there was we couldn t afford it anyway. As Bob Rotella explains exceedingly well it comes down to the goings on in the area between the ears. The book suggests ways of ensuring a positive and confident outlook on behalf of the player and actions one can take to optimise the process of attaining that state of mind.I play off a 12 handicap and have recently started to have problems with my putting, following the advice has improved my putting results and I m in no doubt that if I were to put of the suggested effort into this area they would improve further.Good writing style and advice one can t dispute its a question of just doing it to coin a phrase. If you are looking for a simple and uncomplicated way to putt, this book shows the way I would highly recommend this book for all golfers, novice or skilled.
